Two separate pieces. The bench mount one is far from worn out, it will still sharpened quite well if crudely. The handled one appears less used, and it is unsparingly good shape for something this old made partially of wood.
Yes, Landers et al. Its not only present but in really good shape despite some stains and nicks. Maybe even made in the same era. They are both called Eversharp.
They are both old. It does at least have a patent number. They are both pull-style overlapping disc sharpeners. It also only has 6 sharpening discs.
Price is for the pair. And it has a whopping 10 sharpening discs. An alternate theory. But that's where the similarities end.
But that could be straight from the factory rather than result of wear or abuse. The red handled one is manufactured by the Voos Co. They are both registered with the USA Patent office. OK, OK, there are obvious differences, one has a handle for applying pressure onto your work surface as you pull the knife through and no guards in case slip.
OK so they are different model's from the same maker which maybe had more than one factory in its history. This one stumped both traditional search engines even if delves deep into forums and listings AND the superior AI repackaging of. They are both manual knife sharpeners. This was my favored theory above the Acme conclusion until I found out that Landers and Co.
These two sharpeners, though very similar along at least 3/4ths of a dozen facets comparison, are in fact made by completely different and unrelated companies, which just both happened to like manufacturing knife related gadgets the New England coastline. Apparently never made anything in Bridgeport. They are both meant to sit flat on a table or bench as you pull the knife through, removing good amount of material from blade, crudely but quickly sharpening it. Both have marring and light to moderate oxidation, but neither is messed up beyond usability or legibility crusty with rust.
Please understand that i've decided to price this based on effort and in the hopes Acme or Landers one tends be more rare, someone enjoyed going down rabbit hole with me. Often the paint is gone from these items. All affixed parts are there to stay with normal use. Here is an odd little lot that led me on a bizarre rabbit trail.
But there were some bread crumbs ah err knife shavings that led me to the truth, or at least as close it I can get with my limited knowledge base. It also says Voos Co. At first glance I thought the logo was 100% identical it isn t, but that's not that strange, logos can change, and they are still very close. But it does have a little play in some spots.
Whereas with the handled sharpener two aides are in fact connected at top and one solid piece of metal as a result, addition to having shafts for discs. They are both knife sharpeners. Their logos are very similar, with Eversharp written in cursive. Note that the design of it is such two sides are ONLY connected by same shafts discs supported.
All moving parts work as they should. It says register patent but does not give a number. Now that the effort post is out of way, onto actual condition: Both have been used.
